At American Moving and Storage Solutions, the health and safety of our customers and employees is the most important aspect of our business. In light of the ever-evolving, COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, Governor Mike DeWine and Amy Acton, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, have issued a Stay-At-Home Order for the State of Ohio. However, under Sec 12 (k) of this order, moving and relocation services are considered critical trades and are exempted as Essential Businesses and Operations. Therefore, our intent is to continue servicing customer moves until such time as these orders change.
We are also remaining vigilant to ensure we follow best practices as communicated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other governing bodies providing guidance at this time.
Out of a desire to ensure abundant communication to our customers, there are several pieces of information we feel it is important to clarify:
What you can expect from us….
⦁ We are a small, local business. All employees have been with the business for an extended period of time, and we do not use employees from temporary agencies to supplement our crews.
⦁ Because we are a smaller company, our facility is able to maintain compliance with the current recommendation of limiting groups to no more than ten people.
⦁ We are screening the temperature of employees daily when they arrive for work.
⦁ Per the CDC recommendations, any employee with a fever higher than 100.4 F will not be allowed to work until they are free of the fever or other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants).
⦁ Our crews will not be shaking hands with you at the beginning or end of the move. They will also make every effort to maintain a reasonable, social distance throughout the move process.
⦁ Gloves can hinder the ability of our crew members when they try to grip your furniture and can create an unsafe condition for both the crew and your furniture. Therefore, we are not requiring our employees to wear gloves unless they choose to do so. However, our employees are encouraged to wash their hands frequently during the move, and we ask you to accommodate them with this option.
⦁ Unfortunately, there are various, and sometimes contradictory, schools of thought on the effectiveness of masks. Therefore, our employees are not being required to wear masks while on the job. However, if a crew member makes a personal decision to use a mask while on the job, we are allowing the use of them.
⦁ We are disinfecting the cargo boxes on each of our trucks at the end of the day using the CDC recommended mixture of sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and water.
What we are asking from our customers….
⦁ By confirming a move on our schedule, you are confirming
⦁ Neither you nor anyone who will be present the day of the move has been in close contact with anyone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the 14 days prior to the move.
⦁ Neither you nor anyone who will be present the day of the move has exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19 in the 48 hrs. prior to the move. These symptoms include a fever of 100.4 degrees or greater or any unexplained or unexpected coughing or shortness of breath.
⦁ Neither you nor anyone who will be present at the move has returned from traveling out of the United States at any time during the 14 days prior to the move.
⦁ We ask you to limit any individuals at the move site who may be considered high-risk for complications from coronavirus (seniors over 60, individuals with long-term medical conditions, individuals with weak immune systems).
